Le Pouldu
Le Pouldu is a small unspoiled town set in a beautiful countryside lying at the mouth of the Laita river, which marks the border between Finistere and Morbihan.
Le Pouldu may be best known for its artistic links with Paul Gauguin, and Marie Henri’s house in the town is worth a visit.
The Southern Brittany Coast near Le Pouldu boasts superb beaches and coves
The beaches of southern Brittany are clean and sandy yet rarely crowded even in season.
Apart from the main beaches, there are many small secluded bays and beaches all along the coast from Pouldu to Concarneau.
There are also rocky areas with pools to explore and delightful cliff walks.
Guidel Plage
La Plage at Guidel is very popular for surfers and is suitable for those with little or no experience. A little further along the Morbihan coast you’ll find windsurfers and more challenging surfing beaches.
Southern Brittany Towns, Rivers & Forests
Or you can get away from the sea and explore the rivers, forests and countryside from Quimper to Vannes, and visit the floral riverside town of Quimperle.
The beautiful southern Brittany towns of Quimper, Concarneau, Vannes, Quiberon and Quimperle, are all in easy reach, as is Carnac with its famous standing stones.
Lorient Festival Interceltique
Le Pouldu is an excellent location for those attending the annual Celtic Festival in Lorient in August. In 2004 over 500,000 people from around the world attended the Celtic Festival in Lorient. You will find a link on our area information page.
